Slight Werk

So I have been doing some research for my NaNoWriMo story, and I got so many ideas now everything is just jumbled up. I also realised that every time I write (I have been dabbling at writing ever since I was in high school) my stories are always set in America for some reason. I guess that is where my imagination resides 🙂 But I think I will give Nairobi a shot for this particular story to give us all more to relate to.

Aden woke up early Monday morning and followed his usual morning routine, fifty sit ups, fifty press ups, shit, shower, shave and a healthy breakfast. He had a very important meeting that he had to prepare for and he did not have the patience to deal with the hectic Nairobi traffic. He left his Kileleshwa home at 6:30am and thanks to the new bypass, he made it to his office situated at 14th Riverside Drive in ten minutes.

Aden had started a company called Lemaden Solutions with his best friend Lemasolai which dealt with mobile and web technology. The two had invested their life savings to start the business, and had also won several grants from international bodies to fund their start up initiatives. Today they were meeting with Heshan De Silva, a young venture capitalist who had just been named Kenya’s youngest billionaire. Heshan invested in companies and earned a percentage stake of the company, and Aden was keen on having him on board to help their business flourish.

“Hey Sola, did you manage to finish your part of the presentation?” Aden asked as he stepped into the board room of the Lemaden office, where he found Lemasolai seated.

Lemasolai, Sola for short, had been his best friend since the tender age of six years. They had met at Muthaiga Country Club while their fathers were competing against each other in a golf tournament and became fast friends. They attended the same high school and both flew out to pursue their undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in America. They considered themselves to be more than just friends, they were brothers.

Aden and Sola were very different, yet similar. Aden was 6 foot tall, well built, and light in complexion. Sola was 6 foot 2, slim and slightly darker than Aden. Sola was the outgoing guy, the charmer who swept almost everyone off their feet. Aden was a bit more reserved, he didn’t let just anybody in, but once he warmed up to you, he was the hilarious guy.

“Ad! Thank God you are here! I finished it, but I need you to review it. Can I run it through you?’ Sola replied.

“Sure, once you are done I can show you mine and we can brush up on the entire presentation.”

Aden switched on the projector and Sola connected his laptop and began his part of the presentation. Sola was very vibrant, and full of life. He had this ability to hook people in with his dazzling smile and charming voice. That was what made him such a prolific Marketing and Sales Director for Lemaden.

Aden was the brain behind the business, he came up with ideas, and if he could not properly execute them, he hired programmers to develop the technology required to bring his ideas to life. They had employed two permanent programmers and an accountant to manage their finances since the way the company utilised the grants it received was closely monitored.

While Sola did his presentation, Aden’s phone beeped. It was a whatsapp message from Wanjiru.

I miss you :-*

Can I see you later today?

He read the message and put the phone away without responding. Shiru was a very beautiful girl, but she was so clingy and needy he really had no time for her. He had met her at Mercury ABC during some random night out. She had walked up to him at the bar, and offered to buy him a drink. He found that quite ballsy, the fact that she was stunning helped matters as well. They had a good time together, next thing he knew she was inviting herself over to his house and into his bed.

He regretted immediately the next morning, as he had a difficult time dealing with her. She was all up in his business as he tried to work, and she decided to spend the entire day with him regardless of the fact that he was busy. Once he managed to finally get her to leave, he decided never to see her again and she had been hounding him ever since.

She called and texted him regularly, he ignored her mostly but sometimes guilt got the best of him so he indulged her sometimes. He however had to avoid going to Mercury because he kept running into her there and he was not ready for a repeat performance.

Sola completed his presentation, and Aden showed him his side of the presentation and they polished up on everything.

“Heshan will not know what hit him once we show him our presentation.” Sola remarked excitedly.

“He would be a fool not to want to invest in us.” Aden responded confidently.

They packed up their laptops and projector and left their office, headed for Heshan’s Office which was situated in Westlands.

By sheer luck, Nairobi traffic was good to them and they got to VenCap in fifteen minutes. Once they got to the building lobby, they were amazed at how beautiful and laid back Heshan’s office was. There were two big screen tv’s with play station game consoles connected to them, bean bag chairs, 2 vending machines and a huge aquarium.

“Hi.” Sola said to the pretty receptionist.

“We are from Lemaden Solutions, we are here to see Mr. De Silva, we had an appointment with him, 8:30 am?” He said, oozing with charm as he flashed her his pearly whites revealing a kilo watt smile.

“He is expecting you, kindly follow me.” She smiled and stood up and led them to Heshan’s office.

“Mr De Silva, the gentlemen from Lemaden are here to see you.” She said as she opened the door and ushered them into his office.

Aden’s jaw nearly dropped. Heshan was seated majestically at a huge, polished, mahogany table, and seated on his right hand side was Nia.

Let me count the ways

So I am beginning to think I need writing classes or to google some stuff about how to write in prose because this is all confusing as hell. Despite all that, I still really want to write so keep sending me your feedback, advise, comments etc as the story progresses.

I couldn’t wipe this huge sheepish grin that I had on my face as I drove home, blasting loud music in my car, wind in my hair and soaking up the sun as I viewed the world through my sunglasses. I had just spent the entire weekend with Aden and it had been nothing short of amazing.

That was actually the longest amount of time they had spent alone together since they met three weeks ago, and it had been lovely getting to know Aden better on a more intimate level. He slept on the right side of the bed, which was just perfect because I preferred the left side. But what stood out was the fact that he was willing to accommodate me and let me sleep on his side if that was what I preferred.

He was such a disciplined sleeper, and thank God he did not snore. He was ticklish in all the right places, a fact I took full advantage of. He was definitely not a selfish lover, he made sure he took care of all of my needs until I was fully spent. He was very confident in his ability to please me, a fact he clearly demonstrated and executed perfectly.

He was also incredibly sweet, he made me breakfast one morning. Warm, fluffy pancakes topped with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, accompanied by crispy bacon streaks and perfectly brewed coffee. It really warmed my heart that he had made such an effort to whip all that up for me, and I showed him just how much I appreciated it all.

For two whole days we had blocked the world out and where immersed in each other. We talked for hours about anything and everything, our phones had been discarded in the wardrobe in his bedroom. Everybody knows I have separation anxiety whenever I am away from my cell phone, but that did not matter. Everything revolved around him.

Deep down I was freaking out about how much I was loving being with him, but I left those thoughts buried there. I have a tendency to over think certain situations, but Aden made for an excellent distraction.

I pulled up to my apartment’s parking lot, and just as I was about to switch the engine off, my phone beeped alerting me that I had a new text message. It was from Aden.

I miss you already.

Dear God! This man!

What are you gonna do about it?

I responded smiling cheekily to myself.

I won’t tell you, I’d much rather show you 😉

He responded seconds later.

That was another thing that I really liked about Aden, he did not leave me hanging when it came to chatting over the phone. He seemed to be even more swift than I was when it came to responding to chats.

As much as I would have loved to see him again, I needed time to catch my breath, and review those thoughts I had kept so well hidden. I could very easily get lost in his world and I needed to get a handle over that. Besides, he needed to know that just because he had gotten in my pants. did not mean I was readily available at his every beck and call.

This I really wanna see, but not today..

I got out of the car and walked the three flights of stairs to my apartment, opened the door and got into the living room. Still no response from Aden.

Maybe he had expected me to respond more enthusiastically, but there was no going back now.

My phone buzzed in my hand.

Let me know when you are ready for show and tell 😉

Sweet Temptation

She woke up quickly with a jolt and sat up right as she looked around squinting her eyes as she tried figuring out where she was. The spacious room, with clothes strewn recklessly on the floor, the four poster bed she was laying in, and of course, the man sleeping right beside her blissfully.

This was not what was supposed to happen. She was meant to go for the launch, do some networking, look stunning and parade herself around Aden so that he could get a could look at what he was missing, and leave. Talk about a plan going horribly wrong.

Aden stirred as if he could hear her remorse in his dreams, and he woke up and stared at her inquisitively.

“You were just contemplating running away again weren’t you?’

He moved closer towards her and wrapped his arm around her, and started trailing kisses down her back which sent shivers up and down her spine.

Damn you Aden.

” Stay.” He begged softly amidst killing me with those soft, tender lips.

My body was screaming ‘Yes!’

My heart was screaming ‘Yes!’

But my mind was screaming ‘Run as fast as you can!’ but those screams were being muffled by the ripples of pleasure that had descended upon me.

Aiden knew just the right way to push her buttons, the good and the bad ones. The fact that she was so weak greatly frustrated her. He was not drop dead gorgeous, but he had these big brown eyes that looked like their mission was to infiltrate your soul every time he looked at you. He had a nice, strong jaw line that my lips never got tired of tracing.

His lips were my kryptonite. They were soft and supple, and had a knack for finding the most sensitive parts of my body.

“No, I have to go. This was a mistake.” I said, sounding as if I was trying to convince myself.

“Why do you keep doing this? Running and pushing me away. ” He said looking at me,his face twinged with frustration.

“You have to chase me for me to be running.’ I responded.

“Chase you? Is that the problem? Is that what you want? Me pleading with you to stay and spend the day with me counts as what exactly?”

“I am tired of these games we keep playing Aden. One minute we cannot take our hands off each other, then the next there’s so much distance. I cannot deal with this hot and coldness, it is exhausting. ” I attempted to get off the bed and he held me down and turned me to face him.

He knew if he did not reassure her in some way that she would leave, and he needed her to stay.

“Running away will not solve anything Nia.” He replied, kissing her on the temple.

“You know how bad I want you.” He said as he held me real close so that I could feel just how hard he wanted me.

“Sometime’s that is not always enough.” She whispered softly.

Before she could utter anything else he kissed her. Aden was not very good with expressing himself verbally, so he resorted to what he knew best.

Words really could not sufficiently describe how she knocked him off his equilibrium every time he saw her.  How thoughts of her consumed his entire being so much so he felt like he couldn’t function. So he immersed himself in work and anything else that could prove to be a distraction. Maybe that’s what she referred to as ‘coldness’ but how could he explain that it was the only way he could stay sane?

Well, he would cross that bridge some other time, right now he would do what came naturally to him. He worshipped her body like the goddess that she was.

I was serious

This is my first instalment of my NaNoWriMo story, I have no name for it yet, and I will write for as long as the words will let me, and finish it off slowly with blog posts throughout the month. I really hope I manage to do this though, wish me luck.

I wish my heart would stop doing that thing it does whenever I see you. That thing where it beats so fast that it takes my breath away. It beats so hard as if it wants to burst out of my body and run to you with as much excitement as a dog that runs to it’s master after not seeing him for a long time.

Why couldn’t it be like my face which was exhibiting nothing but cool, calm, nonchalance. Nothing like the confusion going on within me. Lord knows what was going on with my eyes, right now the only struggle is not to make eye contact with you.  Right now you really do not need to know what is going on in my soul.

He had spotted her from the minute he walked into the room. It was like his eyes had been wandering, and when they saw her they had found home. He had not even expected her to be there, she had been avoiding him and he had been having a difficult time trying to get her to agree to see him. He took a minute to let his eyes soak the sight of her in.

She was dressed in a long black dress that clung to her body not too tightly, but just enough to give you an idea of how her body contours. Her hair was freshly done with beautiful curls flowing down one side of her head, and the other side exposing the beautiful nape of her neck.

She must have known she would see me today, that seeing that long slim neck, with the small dark birthmark just below her ear exposed like that would simply drive me nuts.

As usual, she was oblivious of her beauty and the effect it had on men. She was gorgeous but always toned it down as if not to draw attention to herself. She always seemed surprised every time someone paid her a compliment, as if she could not believe someone actually thought her whole being was exquisite. That was what made her even more beautiful.

He made his way towards her, determined to get to speak to her. Tonight there would be no escape.

She caught his eye as she turned to her left, and she could the look of determination on his face as he walked towards her in his majestic stride.  Her first thought was to bolt, but before she could even coordinate her feet to move, he had grabbed her hand.

That voice.

“Hi.” She responded in what was barely a whisper. He was still holding her hand, as if he knew the minute he let go she would find some way to escape.

“You look so amazing.” He said, as he looked at her face and played with the curls falling off her face.

“Thank you.” she could feel herself blushing and her ears burning. This man and his effect on her!

“You have been avoiding me. You do know the more you run the more I will keep chasing after you. But you being here tells me you have stopped running?”

She pried her hand away from what had become his vice like grip.

“I just needed some time.”

“Some time to do what? ” He asked.

“Things.”  She responded curtly.

“I wanna ask what things, but you do not look like you will volunteer that information. We need to talk about some things, and I know if I do not have this conversation with you right now you will make sure this overdue discussion does not take place.

Come with me.” He grabbed her hand and dragged her outside to the verandah of the museum where they were attending a gala which was being held in honour of the new CEO of the country’s biggest investment firm, Sonnex.

He led her towards the furthest corner of the verandah that was poorly lit and away from any prying eyes. He pushed her towards the wall as he looked her straight in the eye, and leaned in till he was barely inches away from her.

He could feel her hastened breathe against him, and he could see how she looked at him with a mixture of anticipation and fear.

‘What am I doing to this woman?’ He thought to himself.

‘What is she doing to me?’ he thought as his eyes dropped down to her plump, moist pink lips.

She licked her lips, and looked at him, then grabbed him by his tie and lowered his head to come closer to hers.

Despite wearing 6 inch heels, he was still so tall in comparison to her petite frame.

She traced his lips with her tongue, as if in preparation for their mouths to collide and do that dance they had perfected.

To be continued …
